. 2 tablespoon canola oil
. 1 small onion, finely chopped
. 1 medium green pepper, finely chopped
. 2 celery sticks, finely chopped
. 2 garlic cloves, minced
. 1 lb lean ground beef
. 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
. 2 tablespoons gochujang
. 4 tablespoons ketchup
. 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
. 2 tablespoons brown sugar
. 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
. salt and pepper to taste
1. Put the gochujang in a mixing bowl.
2. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar.
3. Grate in the pear and the apple.
4. Add the lemon juice, toasted sesame seeds, and corn syrup (The corn syrup will add a nice sheen to the sauce).
5. Lastly, if you want an extra spicy kick, add some Korean chili flakes.
6. Mix everything well. You now have a beautiful sauce to top off many dishes.
